Ineligible Votes Swung Democratic Party Chair Election to Bauman

OAKLAND, Calif. (June 21, 2017): Initial inquiries into nearly 300 questionable ballots in the unsettled May 20 contest for state Democratic Party chair show that Eric Bauman was named the winner based on ineligible votes and votes of dubious authenticity that may be set aside upon further review. Bauman benefited from several votes cast by non-Democrats, in clear violation of Party rules.

Bauman Refuses Request for Independent Forensic Audit

OAKLAND, Calif. (June 2, 2017): Eric Bauman has rejected the request by the Ellis campaign for an independent forensic audit, which was formally submitted for consideration on Tuesday through legal counsel. While the Ellis campaign’s review of the ballot is ongoing, initial inspection uncovered alarming discrepancies and an amassing of ineligible voters to change the outcome of the election, warranting a call for an independent expert to intervene and validate the vote.

OAKLAND, Calif. (April 26, 2017): Kimberly Ellis continues to enjoy a strong majority of support from central committee members throughout California and grassroots Democratic club activists up and down the state, as evidenced by the latest endorsements from Nevada County and Tulare County Democratic Central Committees, as well as nine clubs. The East Area Progressive Democratic Club, Los Angeles’ largest Democratic club, endorsed Ellis with a vote of 35 to 4, Nevada County at 18 to 1, Tulare County at 10 to 6, Feel the Bern Democratic Club of LA at 39 to 3 and Sunnyvale Democratic Club at 31 to 2.

Sac Observer: Kimberly Ellis Says California Democratic Party Needs New Blood

When former Labor Sec. Tom Perez defeated Rep. Keith Ellison in the race to head the Democratic National Committee, it was seen as another defeat for progressives. (Perez later named Ellison deputy chair.)

Some progressives are still seething over the fact that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, their favored candidate, lost the presidential nomination to former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton. But the California Democratic Party may be on the verge of electing a party outsider candidate Kimberly Ellis.

Kimberly's Personal Statement on #MyBlackJourney

To commemorate Black History Month, Kimberly has shared her own personal journey as a Black woman. The challenges she has faced (even from those within her own party) and the struggles that continue for too many.

Rather than simply reading about Black History, Kimberly is urging us to talk about why #BlackLivesMatter (period) and to be unafraid to pursue policy solutions we can implement now to make positive changes in the lives of those living Black History.

She said, “Why do Democrats always have to be the ‘adults’ in the room? So far, that has not gotten us anything. Not the House. Not the Senate. Not the presidency. And now we’re 4 for 4 — Not the Supreme Court.”

LA Times: California Democrats Strategize on How to Move Forward

California Democratic Party leaders met in San Diego to discuss how to best to combat the policies of President Trump.

Speaking at the two day event, Kimberly stressed the importance of the party to focus on addressing  groups most threatened by a Trump administration: women, people of color, Muslims, the LGBT community and young voters.

CityWatch Los Angeles

Delaine Eastin and Ron Kaye collaborated on an article (published in CityWatch Los Angeles) urging Democrats to turn the chapter on corruption and elect Kimberly Ellis as the next California Democratic Party Chair.

Diane is a former state Superintendent of Public Instruction who served four terms in California’s state Assembly. Ron is former editor of the Los Angeles Daily News who continues to advocate for honesty in public service and a better informed electorate.
